Experimental Theater, NTCH
Velocity is a formula for measuring time and distance. Fast and slow, two opposing velocities, serve as an important factor that determines the depth of how we perceive our life experience.
In an experiment of velocity, we try to alter the speed of time, extend it and twist it and use it to examine the reality, which becomes distorted. Through this experiment, we are also looking to find the perfect ratio of time, or the right combination of fast and slow, to help our senses feel better and allow the lost reality to transcend the limits of time to become our memory.
This challenging yet entertaining dance piece, presented in an unconventional format, was based on games, music and dance. While creating, the choreographers took inspiration and material for their take on velocity from dancers performing activities such as cycling, dart-throwing and holding breath underwater. Through multifaceted stage manipulation and choreography, Velocity is seeking an extension and innovation for dance creation both in form and concept.
